The Ultimate Handbook For Teen Girls

Being a teen girl living in today’s world is just not the same thing as it was even a decade ago. They face new challenges, new experiences. They face things that most adults could never even dream of.

Years ago, I read Mirror Mirror… Am I Beautiful? by Shelley Hitz and immediately thought that it was the book I wished I would have had when I was a teen. It was like the perfect handbook for Christian girls living in the real world. It didn’t just cover the pretty Christian topics, but the real-life, nitty-gritty issues that you are faced with in high school: Insecurities. Guys. Fashion. Evolution. Faith. Sex. It was all there.

And it was about a decade too late for me.

As my own daughters approach their teen years, I didn’t want it to be too late for them. So, I partnered with Shelley to update and expand the book so it is relevant for today’s teens. I so strongly believe in the message this book holds that I am willing to literally give it away.

But I know sometimes the best books are books that you can hold in your hand.

When you buy our book, either the paperback or Kindle edition, now through Saturday, you’ll get a free coloring book and have a chance to enter to win five more true beauty books.

{DVD Review and Giveaway} The Identical

The IdenticalLast weekend, Paul and I had the opportunity to review, “The Identical.” We LOVED this movie!!! It came across like it was based on a true story, but it was entirely fictional. If I had to describe it, I would say it was almost like a “What if?” story. What if Elvis had a twin brother, and nobody knew? What if that brother was adopted by a preacher, but still had a heart for music? What you get is one amazing movie.

Elvis was before my time, but everyone knows who he is. I can’t tell you how much of this story is true to the real Elvis, but it honestly doesn’t matter to me. And I didn’t really get the redemptive story line described in the actual movie description (below). In fact, this was mainly a Christian movie because of the Christian characters. There wasn’t anything really spiritual about it in my opinion, but it was still a good film and we would highly recommend it.

But don’t take our word for it, check out the trailer and enter to win the giveaway below:

More about the movie:

The Identical, starring Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Seth Green, and Blake Rayne is a redemptive movie about a young man, the son of a preacher, who rejects his father’s desire for him to join the ministry and instead embarks on a career as a rock singer. As he struggles to pursue his dream and rise to stardom, he finds love, pain, success, failure and ultimately uncovers a hidden family secret that reveals who he really us. The Identical is a captivating story about a family restored and a life discovered that lifts your soul and warms your heart.

VeggieTales Review & Giveaway

Beauty and the Beet Our family loves all things VeggieTales. It’s an obsession I picked up in middle school and passed on to my children.

Who doesn’t love a wholesome family film and silly songs – right?

Anyway, we got their newest film, “Beauty and the Beet,” in the mail yesterday and watched it right away.

It was a HIT!

The message in this one was on unconditional love. That’s something all Christian parents try to teach their kids, and I really think this film knocked it out of the park. I’ve never seen it covered so well.

Here’s a little bit more about the film:

This brand-new VeggieTales musical stars Kellie Pickler (American Idol, Dancing With the Stars), who brings her unmistakable voice to the role of Mirabelle, a sweet-potato singer whose family band is on the brink of superstardom.

BEAUTY AND THE BEET blends the irresistible charm of VeggieTales with a heartfelt message about unconditional love. The DVD also includes Mac and Cheese, a giddy new “Silly Songs With Larry” segment in which Larry the Cucumber reveals the surprising and heretofore untold history of his family’s unexpected contributions to Italian cuisine.

BEAUTY AND THE BEET is just the start of the fun in store this fall for VeggieTales fans, because the gang will also star in a brand-new Netflix original series, VeggieTales In the House, which premieres Thanksgiving weekend.
